The Quietwriter(R) systems are the same, except that they utilize a non-impact printer (up to 60 cps) using resistive ribbon technology. The Quietwriter(R) systems cannot make carbon, carbonless or multi-part form copies. A system using Function Pack 20 (F.P. 20) is referred to as System/20. A system using Function Pack 40 (F.P. 40) including Textpack A cartridge is referred to as System/40. The keyboard is multi-lingual and can access the following additional language or special application keyboard/character sets: Canadian Bilingual Norwegian Canadian English Portuguese Danish South African Finnish/Swedish Spanish French/Belgium Swedish German Swiss French Greek Swiss German Greek Latin* Turkish Hong Kong U.K. English Icelandic Accounting* Italian ASCII Japanese English Latin Supplemental Japanese Katakana Library Latin American Symbol (1)* Netherlands Trilingual * Quietwriter(R) systems only Drawings of these keyboard/character sets are in the Operating Instructions. The attached revised IBM Electric and Electronic Typewriter Exhibit 6700-5 dated September 1985, now includes the newly announced IBM Wheelwriter(R) and IBM Quietwriter(R) systems. Under the revised VPA Exhibit, customers may order the IBM Wheelwriter(R) (6770) and IBM Quietwriter(R) (6780) systems either as additional quantities or as direct substitutes for any other machine listed in Category A. All optional features for machine type(s) 6770 and 6780 ordered for field installation and shipped on or after September 17, 1985, and during the contract period, will receive the same discount percent and associated terms and conditions that are received by Category A machines, but are not added together with Category A machines for purposes of determining the Category A discount. A VPA solely for features will not be accepted. For customers with an existing VPA referencing either Exhibit 6700-3, dated October 1984, or Exhibit 6700-4, dated May 1985, the revised Exhibit 6700-5 automatically replaces and supersedes those exhibits immediately. Customers with an existing VPA referencing Exhibit 6700-2 dated August 1984, or 67QS-2 dated August 1984, who wish to order the new products in addition to previously marketed products, must notify IBM in writing of their acceptance of the revised Exhibit 6700-5 with its associated terms and conditions and, if applicable, their revised Total Quantity of Machines by Category commitment. The transition from the old to new VPA Exhibit, in and of itself, will not generate any adjustment charges to customers. However, in the event a customer does not purchase the revised Committed Quantity of Machines by Category during the contract period, adjustment charges on all machines purchased during the contract period may be applicable. The customer's contract period is unchanged. VPA customers in the 75-199 discount level may convert to a commitment of 50 or more machines. VPA customers in the 200 or more discount level may convert to a commitment of 150 or more machines. It should be noted that the Quantities of Eligible Machines and Discount Percents have been revised on the new Exhibit, and that the Quantity Shipment Option has been eliminated. A Customer Acceptance form is attached for your convenience and should be filled out and returned to your IBM marketing representative. For all machines shipped after written notification is received by IBM, the new terms and conditions and discount percents will apply. Special Bid customers who wish to order new products in addition to previously marketed products must submit a new Special Bid request. If you have any questions regarding this notification, please contact your IBM marketing representative. CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE* I understand that the revised VPA Exhibit 6700-5, attached, contains additional machine types (including Quietwriter(R) and Wheelwriter(R) systems) and a revised Discount Schedule. This Discount Schedule has changed quantities of machines and discount percents that, in some cases, will result in a higher net purchase price than the discount percents in either Exhibit 6700-2 or 67QS-2 dated August 1984. I accept the new Exhibit as a replacement for my current Exhibit and elect to revise my Total Quantity of Machines as indicated below. If this revised Total Quantity of Machines by Category is greater than my current Total Quantity of Machines by Category, this document will serve as a Supplement for Additional Quantities. CATEGORY TOTAL QUANTITY OF MACHINES A __________________________ B __________________________ C __________________________ VPA # _______ _______________________________ Customer Name _______________________________ Authorized Signature _______________________________ Name Date NOTE: Customers with a current Total Quantity of Machines in Category A of 75-199 may elect a new commitment of 50 or more. Customers with a current Total Quantity of Machines in Category A of 200+ may elect a new commitment of 150 or more. * This Customer Acceptance is only necessary for customers with an existing VPA referencing Exhibit 6700-2 or 67QS-2 dated August 1984. ---NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS---NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS--- September 17, 1985 REVISED EXHIBIT - ALTERNATIVE CERTIFICATION FOR IBM MACHINES IBM has announced a revised Exhibit for the Alternative Certification for IBM Machines.
