The new models of the IBM Personal Computer AT-5171T and the 5167 IBM Personal Computer Display T are TEMPEST machines for processing sensitive information. TEMPEST is the suppression of data related signals to a level or magnitude that cannot be detected and reproduced. The new models are the IBM Personal Computer AT-5171T Models 168 and 339. These models include increased processor speed (8 MHz) and the enhanced IBM Personal Computer Keyboard-T. The Model 339 is functionally similar to the non-TEMPEST Personal Computer AT Model 339. The Model 168 does not include the 30 MB fixed disk. The new 5167 Model 001 IBM Personal Computer Display T is functionally similar to the 5151 IBM Personal Computer Display. The 5171 Model 339 System Unit includes 512 KB of planar memory, a single 1.2 MB high-capacity diskette drive, a combination fixed disk and diskette drive adapter, a Serial Parallel Adapter T, and a 30 MB fixed disk drive. The Model 168 is the same as Model 339, but does not have the 30 MB fixed disk drive. The new models are based on the high performance 16 bit Intel 80286 Microprocessor. These models also include the basic language and clock/calendar with battery backup. The 5167 Personal Computer Display T is a monochrome, high-resolution video monitor that provides for the alphanumeric output from programs running on the Personal Computer AT-5171T.
