The IBM 3192 Model L20/LE0 operates only in native mode with the IBM 3174 Control Unit. The IBM 3192 Models L10/LD0 and L30/LF0 can operate in native mode with the IBM 3174 Control Unit. LIMITATIONS: The following are not available: o RPQs o Magnetic reader control and accessories o Monocase switch o Video output. The following items should be taken into consideration when selecting the IBM 3192 Keyboard: o 122-key or 104-key Typewriter Keyboard - Available in native or emulation mode - If keyboard is to be modified, the 3174 (any level) or the 3274 Configuration Support D, release level 63 or higher is required. o 102-key Enhanced Keyboard - Available in native mode only - Requires a 3174 or Configuration Support D, release level 65 on an IBM 3274 with no-charge RPQ #7L0825 - If keyboard is to be modified, the 3174 release level 2 is required. PLANNING INFORMATION Planning is the responsibility of the customer. The customer should have on hand, or should order the IBM 3192 Display Station Description (GA18-2700) for site planning and preparation work. CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES: The customer is responsible for: o Adequate site, system, and other vendor preparation o Receipt at customer's receiving dock, unpacking and placement of the unit o Physical setup, connection of cables in customer access area, switch settings, and checkout o During initial setup, installing Repair Identification Tags (RID) on each element (logic, video, and keyboard) of the IBM 3192 Model L. The RID tag is used to identify each element (logic, video, and keyboard) of this product. The RID tag is used by IBM for service entitlement. Only the type and serial number of the product are stored in IBM's entitlement system. Therefore, the RID tags are attached to the logic element when it is shipped from the factory. The RID tags must be removed from this element and installed on each element during initial setup. Detail information on where to install the RID tags is contained in the Display Station Setup Instruction Manual shipped with each IBM 3192 Model L. Refer to the Setup Manual for the exact location of the RID tags. o Contacting IBM service for attachment of the 3192 communications cable to an on-site serviced IBM control unit where customer access area is not provided. This service will be provided at the current hourly rate. o Determination of the required number of spares. The number of spare units is dependent upon the number of the 3192 units the customer has installed, the application requirements, physical locations, and layout. The customer should be advised to test spares for correct operation before putting them on the shelf. Spares can be ordered as a complete machine or as individual elements. o Performing Customer Problem Analysis and Resolution (CPAR) o Calling the Service/Exchange Communication Center (S/ECC) for service at 800-428-2569. o All keyboard modifications.
