The 3192 Model F provides a high-quality, 1920-, 2560-, 3440-, or 3564-character, 14-inch seven-color CRT with smudge-resistant screen. The IBM 3192 Model F complements the IBM 3192 Models C and D and provides the following standard features: Printer port for local screen copy with screen trim options, record/pause/play capability, rule, setup mode, choice of keyboard, and a one- or three-year warranty. The IBM 3192 may be attached to the IBM System/360, System/370, 43XX, 937X, 303X, 308X, 3090, System/8100, System/36, and System/38. The 3192 provides, via setup mode, the ability to select the area of the screen to be printed, as well as the print quality, line density, and pitch. o Rule provides the ability to display the cursor by extending a line both vertically and horizontally. This facilitates finding the cursor on a busy screen, as well as horizontal and/or vertical guides for rows and columns. o Record/pause/play provides a method of reducing keystrokes by recording and playing back often-used data. o The response time monitor, alert, and entry assist capability are supported on the IBM 3274 with Configuration Support D and IBM 3174. o Adjustable audible alarm, variable auto-dim, and security keylock are standard. Security key is removable in both LOCK and UNLOCK position. o Screen Characteristics - 14-inch, seven-color CRT provides a bright, steady presentation of either 80 x 24, 80 x 32, 80 x 43, or 132 x 27 characters. - Etched, enhanced contrast CRT screen designed to reduce light reflections and fingerprint smudges to produce high-quality, high-resolution output. o Video pedestal, provided as standard, provides 19.4 degrees of tilt (+15 (degs) to -4.4 (degs)) and 180 degrees of swivel ((plus or minus)90 (degs) from the center position) to enable the display to be individually positioned. o Through the use of error indicators, off-line tests and the Customer Problem Analysis and Resolution (CPAR) Guide, the customer may isolate a failing element for repair or replacement. MACHINE REQUIREMENTS: The IBM 3192 may be attached to the IBM System/360, System/370, 43XX, 937X, 303X, 308X, 3090, System/8100, System/36, and System/38. Refer to the DESCRIPTION section for more information. Attachment is by the same type of coaxial cable used to attach an IBM 3191, 3178, 3179-1, 3180-1, 3278, or 3279. Attachment may also be made by twisted pair cable and appropriate baluns that have been approved for display attachment. Refer to the CABLE ORDER section. PROGRAMMING REQUIREMENTS: The IBM 3192 is data stream compatible with the IBM 3179-1. All host programs, which operate with the IBM 3179-1, will operate with the IBM 3192 in exactly the same way. COMPATIBILITY: HOST APPLICATIONS: The new IBM 3192 is data stream compatible with today's IBM 3179-1 displays in alphanumeric application environments. The IBM 3192 will accept the IBM 3270 data stream and will run existing alphanumeric applications unmodified (in their current screen size). No programming changes are required of current alphanumeric applications unless required hardware functions are not available with the IBM 3192, for example, magnetic readers, light pen, or unsupported screen sizes. This level of support is also required for changing the layout of the IBM 104- or 122-key Typewriter Keyboard. The IBM 3192 Model F20/FE0 operates in native mode only when attached to an IBM 3274 Control Unit. The 3274 must have Configuration Support D, microcode release level 65 or higher and IBM 3274 RPQ #7L0825. The IBM 3192 Model F20/FE0 can operate in native mode with the IBM 3174 Control Unit (Configuration Support A, release level 2.0 or higher is required to modify keyboards). LIMITATIONS: o For model limitations, refer to the PREREQUISITES section. o The following are not available: - RPQs - Magnetic reader control and accessories - Monocase switch - Selector light pen (Available on 3192 Model L) - Video output. o The following items should be taken into consideration when selecting the IBM 3192 keyboard: - 122-key or 104-key Typewriter Keyboard -- Available for IBM 3276, 43XX, and 3274 with Configuration Support A, B, or C. - 102-key Enhanced Keyboard -- Requires Configuration Support D, release level 65 on the IBM 3274 with no-charge RPQ #7L0825. -- Requires Configuration Support A, release level 2.0 or higher on the IBM 3174 to modify the keyboard. PLANNING INFORMATION The customer should have on hand, or should order the IBM 3192 Display Station Description Manual (GA18-2574) for site planning and preparation work. CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES: o Adequate site, system, and other vendor preparation o Receipt at customer's receiving dock, unpacking, and placement of the unit o Physical setup, connection of cables in customer access area, switch settings, and checkout o To install Repair Identification Tags (RID) on each element (logic, video, and keyboard) of the IBM 3192 Model F during initial setup The RID tag is used to identify each element (logic, video, and keyboard) of this product. The RID tag is used by IBM for service entitlement. Only the type and serial number of the product are stored in IBM's entitlement system. Therefore, the RID tags are attached to the logic element when it is shipped from the factory. The RID tags must be removed from this element and installed on each element during initial setup. Detailed information on where to install the RID tags is contained in the Display Station Setup Instruction Manual which is shipped with each IBM 3192 Model F. Please refer to the setup manual for the exact location of the RID tags. o Contacting an IBM customer service coordinator for attachment of the 3192 Model F communications cable to an on-site serviced IBM Control Unit where a customer access area is not provided. This service is provided at the current hourly rates. o Determination of the required number of spare units The number of spare units is dependent upon the number of the 3192 Model F units the customer has installed, the application requirements, physical locations, and layout. Determination of the required number of spare units is a customer responsibility. The customer should be advised to test spare units for correct operation before putting them on the shelf. Spare units can be ordered as a complete machine or as individual elements. o Performing Customer Problem Analysis and Resolution (CPAR) Calling the Service/Exchange Communication Center (S/ECC) on a toll-free number (800 428-2569) for service. o The customer is responsible for all keyboard modifications. Customers must remove and save customer-owned keycaps prior to returning a keyboard for exchange. A standard layout keyboard will be returned to the customer. o Returning security keys to IBM if any exchange service of Logic Element is required. (If the keys are not returned to IBM, the customer will be charged for the replacement of the security keys and locks on a time-and-material basis). o Ordering the IBM 3192 Display Station Description Manual (GA18-2574) for site planning and preparation work because it is not shipped with each machine. CABLE ORDERS: IBM shielded twisted pair cable or coaxial cable is required for product attachment. The customer is responsible for installation and maintenance of the cable and associated accessories. INSTALLABILITY: The IBM 3192 Model F is a customer setup (CSU) machine. The IBM 3192 Model F Display Station Setup Instructions (GA18-2648) is included with each machine. PROBLEM DETERMINATION: The Operator Reference and Problem Solving Guide contains self-test and diagnostic procedures which assist the customer in isolating a defective machine element. The failing element can then be replaced by calling the Service/Exchange Communications Center. PACKAGING: The IBM 3192 Model F Color Display Station is shipped in a single shipping carton with the individual elements packaged in separate cartons. The Setup Instructions (GA18-2648), User's Guide (GA18-2652), Problem Solving Guide (GA18-2650), and two keyboard overlays (122-key and 102-key for setups) are included in the packaging. The following parts are not covered by an IBM maintenance agreement and must be purchased by the customer when replacement is needed. SECURITY, AUDITABILITY, AND CONTROL Data security functions provided by the IBM 3192 Model F are non-displayed field control (specified in the attribute byte) and the security keylock. User management is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communications facilities.
