Also available is the 104-Key Modifiable Typewriter Keyboard (no numeric pad). A keyboard definition utility is supported in the 3192 to allow definition of customer-specific 104- or 122-key data keyboard layouts. A keycap removal tool is standard so that keycaps can be changed conveniently. PRINTER PORT The IBM 4201/4202 Proprinter (TM) may be attached to the printer port to provide local screen copy. The 3192 provides, via set-up mode, the ability to select the area of the screen to be printed, as well as the print quality, line density, and pitch. Rule provides the ability to display the cursor by extending a line both vertically and/or horizontally. This facilitates finding the cursor on a busy screen as well as horizontal and vertical guide for rows and columns. Record/play/pause provides a method of reducing repeated keystrokes by recording and playing back frequently used data. The Response Time Monitor, Alert capability and Entry Assist are supported on the IBM 3174 and on the 3274 with Configuration Support D. Adjustable audible alarm, variable auto-dim, and security keylock are standard. The security key is removable in both LOCK and UNLOCK position Keyboards are low-profile with a coiled cable. SCREEN CHARACTERISTICS o 15-inch black-on-white CRT provides a bright, steady presentation of either 80 x 24, 80 x 32, 80 x 43, or 132 x 27 characters. o Etched, enhanced contrast CRT screen designed to reduce light reflections and fingerprint smudges to produce high-quality, high-resolution black-on-white output. Video pedestal, provided as standard, provides 19.4 degrees of tilt (plus 15 degrees to minus 4.4 degrees) and 180 degrees of swivel (plus or minus 90 degrees from the center position) to enable the display to be individually positioned. Through the use of error indicators, offline tests and the Customer Problem Solving guide, the customer may isolate a failing element for exchange or replacement. PROGRAMMING REQUIREMENTS: The 3192 is data stream compatible with the IBM 3180 Model 1. All host programs that operate with the IBM 3180 Model 1 will operate with the 3192 in exactly the same way. The 3192 Models W20/WE0 in native mode only, must be attached to an IBM 3274 Control Unit (with Configuration Support D -- Microcode Release 65 or higher and IBM 3274 RPQ #7L0825.) The 3192 Models W20/WE0 operate in native mode only with the IBM 3174 Control Unit. The IBM 3192 Models W10/WD0, W20/WE0, W30/WF0 operate in native mode with IBM 3174 control unit. COMPATIBILITY: The 3192 is data stream compatible with today's IBM 3180 Model 1 displays in alphanumeric application environments. The 3192 will accept IBM 3270 data streams and will run existing alphanumeric applications unmodified (in their current screen size). No programming changes are required of current alphanumeric applications unless required hardware functions are not available with the 3192, e.g., magnetic readers, light pen, encryption/decryption, or unsupported screen sizes. LIMITATIONS: For model limitations, see Prerequisites. The following are not available: o Magnetic reader control and accessories o RPQs o Mono/dual case switch o Video output The following items should be taken into consideration when selecting the 3192 keyboard: o 122-Key or 104-Key Typewriter Keyboard - Available for IBM 3276, 43XX and 3274 with Configuration Support A, B, or C. For the 3274, Configuration Support D release level 63 or higher is required. o 102-Key Enhanced Keyboard - Requires Configuration Support D Release level 65 on IBM 3274 with no-charge RPQ #7L0825. PLANNING INFORMATION CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES: The customer is responsible for: o Adequate site, system and other vendor preparation. o Receipt at customer's receiving dock, unpacking and placement of the unit. o Physical set-up, connection of cables in customer access area, switch settings and checkout. o During initial set-up, to install Repair Identification Tags (RID) on each element (logic, video, and keyboard) of the 3192 W Model. The RID tag is used to identify each element (logic, video, and keyboard) of all element exchange products. The RID tag is used by IBM for service entitlement. Only the type and serial number of the product is stored in IBM's entitlement system. Therefore, the RID tags are attached to the logic element when it is shipped from the factory. The RID tags must be removed from this element and installed on each element during initial set-up. Detail information on where to install the RID tags is contained in the Display Station Set-Up Instruction Manual which is shipped with each IBM 3192 W Model. Refer to the Set-Up Manual for the exact location of the RID tags. o Contacting IBM service for attachment of the 3192 W Model communications cable to an on-site serviced IBM control unit where customer access area is not provided. o Determination of the required number of spares - The number of spare units is dependent upon the number of the 3192 units the customer has installed, the application requirements, physical locations, and layout. Determination of the required number of spares is a customer responsibility. The customer should be advised to test spares for correct operation before putting them on the shelf. Spares can be ordered as a complete machine or as individual elements. o Performing Customer Problem Analysis and Resolution (CPAR) o Using the Problem Solving Guide prior to calling for service. o Calling the Service/Exchange Communication Center (S/ECC) on a toll-free number for service (1-800-428-2569). o Ordering the IBM 3192 Display Station Description Manual (GA18-2535) for site planning and preparation work since it is not shipped with each machine. INSTALLABILITY: The 3192 W Models are customer set-up (CSU) machines. IBM 3192 Display Station Set-Up Instructions (GA18-2530) are included with each machine. PROBLEM DETERMINATION: The Operator Reference and Problem Solving Guide contain self-test and diagnostic procedures which assist the customer is isolating a defective machine element. The failing element can then be replaced by calling the Service/Exchange Communication Center. KEYS: The IBM 3192 W Models are shipped with two keys. If keys are lost, the tumbler assembly must be replaced. This service is available on an hourly service basis. SECURITY, AUDITABILITY, AND CONTROL Data security functions provided by the IBM 3192 W Model are non-displayed field control (specified in the attribute byte) and the security keylock.
