The 7587 can also be used as a stand-alone system, offering outstanding environmental capabilities and high availability design. The 7587 includes a broad range of processor, memory, and hard drive capabilities, providing solutions for diverse applications and the means to easy upgradeability as those applications change through time. The 7587 Industrial Computer provides a highly configurable product that can be used in a range of industrial environments and applications. The primary design focus is on the embedded marketplace, with the system intended to be installed inside another hardware product or to become part of an overall network installation where unattended operation and high availability are critical. The 7587 is designed to perform in demanding physical environments -- extended temperature, humidity, vibration, and shock. These conditions are also typically associated with requirements of embedded applications. The available single-board computer cards and other options provide a range of system performance capability. The passive backplane design and top-accessibility mean that upgradeability of the system in the future can be accomplished efficiently, with a minimum of disruption to the balance of the system. The 7587 Industrial Computer expands the IBM industrial product line further into the embedded controller marketplace, with a highly flexible system designed to provide outstanding performance across a broad spectrum of industrial environments.
