Video: With the IBM Analog Video PMCF Card installed, the 7588 supports the following industrial monitors: 7573 Industrial Graphics Display 7554 Industrial Graphics Display 7574 Industrial Graphics Display The Analog Video PMCF Card can support all standard and most enhanced VGA modes and VESA modes. The actual modes that are delivered will depend on the BIOS/device driver support software and the attached monitor. Due to the number of video modes that can be supported, a multisync monitor is recommended for any attached display device. The Analog Video PMCF Card includes the S3 Trio64V+ GUI Accelerator, interfacing directly with the PCI bus, and incorporating a 64-bit graphics accelerator core with a 135MHz true-color RAMDAC and a clock generator to provide high performance graphics. The Analog Video PMCF Card has 2MB of video memory installed. VESA Display Data Channel (DDC) monitor communication and Display Power Management Signalling (DPMS) are also supported. Examples of maximum supported colors at the noted resolution: 640x480, 16M colors (60, 72, 75, 85 Hz) 800x600, 16M colors (60, 72, 75, 85 Hz) 1024x768, 65K colors (60, 70, 72, 75, 86 Hz) 1280x1024, 16 colors (60 Hz) Software Requirements: The 7588 Industrial Computer is designed to be compatible with the following operating systems. One of the slots is used for the single board computer card. Remaining slots include nine full-length and one half-length ISA slots and two full-length ISA/PCI shared slots. The 586 and 586E Single Board Computer features are designed to support eight ISA and two PCI cards. Configurations with more ISA cards need to be assessed and verified by the user, for each specific card and system configuration. Additional PCI cards can be supported via a PCI-PCI bridge. The installed power supply capability may also limit the number of cards that may be installed. Voltage-current limits may need to be checked and confirmed for a given system and installed-card configuration. Planning Information Customer Responsibilities: The 7588 Industrial Computer product is designated as customer setup. Setup, operation, and service information is included in the 7588 Industrial Computer Information, Operation, Hardware Maintenance publication, which is shipped with the product. Cable Orders: No cable required Installability: Setup for the 7588 is approximately 30 minutes. Security, Auditability, and Control The 7588 Industrial Computer provides password security. Because the system is primarily designed for embedded applications, physical security is not provided. Password security includes a Power-On password, a System Administrator password, and a Keyboard password. Access to the system I/O devices is controlled through the security section of the Configuration Utility. This product also uses the security and auditability features of the selected operating system software, and any specific security related programs that are installed. User management is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communications facilities.
