IBM 5291 DISPLAY STATION ANNOUNCED
The  IBM 5291 Model 1 Display Station is a new member of the 5250
Information Display System.  It displays up to 1920 characters in
a  24-row  by  80-character  format on a 12 inch screen.  The IBM
5291  offers,  as  a  standard capability, a low-profile keyboard
with  adjustable  slope, a display screen glare reduction filter,
an  operator  adjustable  audible alarm and Cable-Thru.  The 5291
does  not  support  magnetic stripe reader, selector light pen or
multinational character set.

PLANNED AVAILABILITY
First  customer  shipment  of the 5291 Display Station is planned
for   September   1982.    Shipping   dates   will   be  assigned
sequentially.   Orders involving multiple units are subject to an
extension of schedules assigned sequentially by each country.
PREREQUISITES
A 5251 Model 2 or 12 with Cluster (#2550) or Dual Cluster (#2551)
feature  or a System/34 (System/34 must be at SSP Release Level 7
or  higher)  or  a  System/38 or a Series/1 with 5250 Information
Display  System attachment feature (#1210).  If the 5291 is to be
used  as  the system console, the System/34 must be at diagnostic
Release Level 9.2 or higher.
PLANNING INFORMATION
o The 5291 is a customer setup machine.  It has been designed
  with ease of setup and relocation in mind.  A graphically-
  oriented manual describing setup procedures step by step
  will be included in the shipping container.

Display  Stations--has been renamed IBM 52XX Display Stations and
category II is being introduced for the 5292.
