For further information please contact your * * local IBM representative. * * * ***************************************************************** ================================================================= IBM ELECTRONIC TYPEWRITERS 85 AND 65 ANNOUNCED IBM ELECTRONIC TYPEWRITERS 50, 60, 75 AND 175 PRODUCTION STATUS CHANGED TO "AS AVAILABLE" HIGHLIGHTS The IBM Typewriter 65 and 85 offers IBM customers the following enhancements over the current models: o Proportional spacing in addition to 10 and 12 pitch o Right Margin Justification on play-out in any pitch o A new Memory Control Panel o A Query function which prints the last accessed storage area. o Internal Resident Diagnostics o Sound reduction improvements o A new cover design, keyboard and standard color The IBM Typewriter 65 offers approximately 7.400 characters of internal memory which may be divided into phrase and revisable document storage areas. In addition, the Model 65 may be upgraded at the customer's location to become a Model 85. The additional features include: o An additional approximately 8.000 characters of memory o Electronic memory access function: Advance and Return o Semi-Automatic Paper Insertion o An Illuminated Carrier Position Indicator Appearance Changes The IBM Typewriters 65 and 85 will have a new look incorporating: o A new case cover design with softer contours o Pearl White keybuttons with dark graphics o Pebble Gray as the new standard color to complement the light keybuttons. Sound Reduction The electro-mechanical keyboard of the current typewriters has been replaced by a totally electronic keyboard. Additional sound-proofing materials have also been included under the covers. These two changes combine to improve noise emission levels while idling, keying and indexing. Reliability/Diagnostic Aid The new keyboard for the IBM Typewriters 65 and 85 will help to secure high reliability by reducing keyboard-related failures. The addition of Resident Diagnostics to the IBM Typewriters 65 and 85 will aid the Customer Engineer in diagnosing problems, thus helping to reduce the frequency and length of service calls. Equipment Specifications The IBM Typewriters 65 and 85 are available with the following specifications: o Paper capacity: 15,5" (394 mm) or 19,1" (485 mm) o Pitch: 10, 12 and proportional spacing o Elements: 2 elements included o Ribbon: IBM Ribbon Cassette System and Correction Tape Cassette o Color: Pebble Gray with Pearl White keybuttons and Dark Charcoal trim.
