For further information please contact your * * local IBM representative. * * * ***************************************************************** ================================================================= LOW PROFILE KEYBOARD FOR THE IBM 6580 DISPLAYWRITER SYSTEM ANNOUNCED The optional Low Profile Keyboard for the IBM Displaywriter System is ergonomically designed with operator adjustable slopes of 5 degrees and 12 degrees. With the 5 degree slope, height of the home row keybuttons is only 30mm (1.2 inches). Keybutton arrangement and functions are identical to the standard 96-character IBM Displaywriter keyboard. HIGHLIGHTS o Plug compatible with the standard IBM Displaywriter System keyboard. o Key arrangement and function are identical to the standard IBM Displaywriter System keyboard. o Keyboard slope adjustable for individual operator preference DESCRIPTION The optional Low Profile Keyboard can be used on either new IBM Displaywriter Systems or on existing systems and can be attached/detached by the operator. Keyboard slope is operator adjustable at 5 degree and 12 degree settings. At the 5 degree setting, height at the home row keybuttons is not greater than 30mm (1.2 inches). The Low Profile Keyboard utilizes an electronic shift instead of the mechanical shift and shift lock mechanism on the standard IBM Displaywriter keyboard. With an electronic shift mechanism, the operator cannot determine if the shift is latched in upper case by physical position of the shift lock key. Case position can be determined only by the character appearing on the screen. FIRST CUSTOMER SHIPMENT: June, 1983 PLANNING INFORMATION The Low Profile keyboard attaches to the IBM Displaywriter in the same manner as the standard Displaywriter keyboard.
