A key's nomenclature is anything that is printed on a keyboard's keys to indicate what they do. This can be letters, numbers and symbols, a mix of the three, or full or abbreviated words to indicate a complex function or a modifier. Nomenclature is more commonly referred to as the keys' legends in enthusiast circles, or simply as the keys' text. For IBM's, Lexmark's and Unicomp's use of this term, it also references how what is printed on the keys is typically a standardised or system-specific nomenclature.
