Also known as: internal cable

A cable is integrated if it is internal to a given host system and device and usually not readily visible to the user. The most common examples of integrated cables amongst keyboards are those used between a keyboard assembly and its controller inside a fully assembled keyboard, or a keyboard assembly and motherboard inside a laptop or electronic typewriter. However, IBM and TGCS notably used the term "integrated cable" in POS context in contrast to a distributed cable to describe a cable between a peripheral (keyboard, display, printer, etc.) and a host system that is purposely short and/or happens to be buried inside the host terminal, any integration trays and/or filler panels around them.
