Midrange

Category: Misc

A midrange computer is IBM's term for a class of computer in between a mainframe computer and a microcomputer such as a personal computer in terms of size and capability. IBM System/3 from 1969 was their first midrange computer, and the ancestor of the System/34, AS/400 and Power Systems/i lineage. If a keyboard is said to be for a midrange computer, it is likely a terminal keyboard within such an ecosystem. From 1977 onwards, "midrange computer" also likely refers to such a keyboard for an IBM 5250 family device.
