The adding machine arrangement is a style of numeric keypad where the top numbers are 7, 8 and 9. As the name implies, this style was common on adding machines, a type of mechanical calculator. It is the most common numeric keypad arrangement today, with most PC and typewriter-style terminal keyboards adopting it.
