Distributed cable
Provided by the ASK Keyboard Dictionary
Also known as: external cable
A cable is distributed if it is external to a given host system and device and is usually visible to the user. "Distributed" refers to how the device can be distributed away from the host system. This technically describes most desktop keyboard cables, but IBM and TGCS notably used the term "distributed cable" in POS context in contrast to an integrated cable to describe a cable between a peripheral (keyboard, display, printer, etc.) and a host system that is purposely long and runs outside the host terminal.
