The IBM 2741 was a Selectric typewriter based printer-keyboard released in 19652 for use with IBM System/360 computers. It was a remote I/O terminal that provided direct access to the computer via a multiplexor and was ideally suited for text handling, online computation and programming applications3. It was a half-duplex terminal that could communicate at 134.5 bits per second. Due to being a Selectric-based device, the "golf ball" print element could be replaced with ones that had APL legends4.
